This area is under construction with trainee and early career teachers in mind.

For trainees and early career teachers

Teach bravely. Prepare practically.

Keep your own voice. A growing survival pack for observations, mentor meetings, assignments and the exhilaratingly messy business of becoming a teacher.

An exercise book growing into an imaginative garden of handwritten ideas
Coming soon: a Student Teacher Survival Pack and a friendly Discord space. We will shape both with suggestions from current trainees and ECTs rather than pretending experienced teachers can guess every pressure from the outside.

The first toolkit

Support for the moments that actually feel difficult.

The structure follows the current Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework in England while leaving room for the reality of different subjects, phases and providers.

Observation survival

Plan around learning rather than performance, prepare the evidence an observer may need and turn feedback into one manageable next step.

Lesson and curriculum thinking

Connect clear outcomes, subject knowledge, explanation, practice, assessment and adaptation without producing a theatrical plan nobody can teach from.

Behaviour and routines

Script calm starts, transitions and corrections, then reflect on what pupils actually did rather than blaming yourself for every imperfect moment.

Assignments with integrity

Unpack a brief, plan an argument, evaluate evidence and check referencing. The support helps you think and write; it does not write assessed work for you.

Adaptive teaching

Maintain ambition while planning scaffolds, checks and accessible routes for pupils with different starting points and needs.

Mentor meetings and workload

Track targets, bring useful evidence, ask precise questions and protect enough time and energy to remain a human being.

Grounded in the current framework

Not a generic “teacher tips” page.

England’s ITTECF has underpinned initial teacher training and the two-year early career entitlement since September 2025. EllivEd will translate its areas into usable planning, observation and reflection tools.
